Adventure Babe's Heartbreak Remedy

First and foremost, heartbreak isn’t always come from a relationship. Heartbreak can come in all shapes and sizes! From friendships ending, to people moving away, to losing friendships. All can be equally devastating and some more than others. There are many ways to get over a heartbreak. Depending on the shape and size some heartbreaks require more. This article is more about relationships or friendships. Each person handles things differently and over time I changed how I handle things.  So here is my heartbreak remedy!

 Step 1: Cry: Heartbreak Hurts

Heartbreak hurts, and it’s okay to feel that. People say that crying is a weakness, but it’s a natural emotion. Personally, crying helps me release my emotions and helps get a clear mind. Someone once told me “It’s okay to cry as long as you can see with clear eyes after.” So, if you need to watch a sappy movie like “The Notebook” or “Titanic” eat some junk/ comfort food and cry it out! Feel the pain and let it hurt; it’s the only way that you can heal.

Step 2: Self Care

Self-care means something different to each person. So, whether it’s a spa day or a face mask and bottle of wine at home; do something for yourself! Often in relationships, others needs can become more important to us than our own. That’s what happens when you care about another person; well that is over now so take care of yourself.

Step 3: Go Out

There’s nothing worse than sitting at home letting a heartbreak rule your life; especially while the other person goes on living. So, get up get dressed and get out! For me, this is anywhere from a hike to going out clubbing and all things in between. You chose to be sad or happy so chose to be happy (it’s a lot more fun.) Sitting alone in a house feeling bad for myself can only last so long. Activity is a must in my life so after about a day or two I need to get out and do something.

Step 4: Change Something

Enjoying a beer and new hairstyle!

Personally, always trying to change and improve is something I value highly. Now, this doesn’t have to be a huge change. Something as simple as trying that yoga class you’ve always wanted or the cut/ color of your hair. Do it and do it for you and no one else! It’s always nice to feel like you walked away from the relationship whatever nature and became better! Changing things helps you reidentify yourself without the said person, assuming that they were that important to you.

Step 5: Plan a Trip

Travel is one thing that makes me happy no matter what the situations. Every time I go through a heartbreak I look at destinations and start planning trips that I will take in my lifetime. Even if you can’t go right now plan it! Make a list of places you want to go and things you want to do there! Also checking airline prices can help make the trip happen. At least living in Germany, you can fly pretty cheap if you don’t mind coach. Now I know this is not going to be for everyone and some extra steps may be needed but this is my list of how to overcome a heartbreak. Being an empath causes me to put my heart towards a lot of things I probably shouldn’t.
