Shopping Local Is Better

Shopping is part of our everyday lives whether it's online, at a mall, department store, or local business we have to do it at some point. Trying to support local is something I started doing early on. Growing up in a small town we didn't have many stores to choose from. It's something I actively try to do when I can.

What is Local

One thing that helped me was just to stay away from chains. Of course, I love TJ Max and Target but it doesn't help your local community. Especially in the pandemic, It's been extremely important to me to shop local when I can. Thankfully there is a local grocery store chain that started in my hometown. This year has really made me think of who I am giving my money to. Rarely using amazon and trying not to online shop unless it's a small business. By doing this I help people make a living instead of helping the rich get richer.

Shopping Local For Me

Shopping can go farther than just traditional shopping this can even go into where you eat. For me, one of the huge ways I support local is by eating at local restaurants. Honestly, that's been my favorite part (I love to eat). Later in the post, I am going to link to my current Local favorites. Even if it's starting small like trying a local restaurant over going to a chain it's a good start. It can be tricky but just focus on doing the best you can because that's can we can do!

Added Bonus to Shopping

Something I didn't know would happen when I started to focus on shopping local was the people I would meet. Not only have I met some really incredible people but also made friends. Getting to know people moving home after living aboard was really tough so the fact that it was so easy when starting to shop local it a wonderful surprise. Not only did shopping help me meet people it gave me really amazing pieces. Nonmatching coffee ups and one of a kind pieces that aren't mass-produced or even hand made.

I also go to a local artist for my tattoos . This one is kind of a given but remember to pay your artist and tip them. It's their lively hood and if you choose the right one thy not only will give you what you want but more than you could imagine. However more on that coming soon( I'm going to do a blog of my tattoos!)

There are so many other ways you can support local and the options are endless! Below I will leave a list of places I love that have been local to me at one point or another! Until next time shop local, stay positive, stay healthy, and don't be an asshole!
