From Education to Porn Store
A few posts ago I addressed that after moving back from Europe I didn't want to work in childcare. As well as saying that I work in a Lingerie Boutique but it is slightly more than that. Its a full-blown sex shop or Porn Store and I love it!
Leaving Education
After living in Germany for over a year I really had to think about what coming home meant. Child care jobs were lined up. However, I didn't want to work in our childcare system. Why do you ask? Well, our system hasn't been updated since WW2 for starters. Also as child care workers and teachers, we aren't given supplies. We aren't paid living wages. As well as we often aren't respected by parents ( there are some amazing ones though!). I loved teaching and working with children they are a beautiful part of life but there isn't a ton of room to grow in childcare once you're a teacher. So when I was applying for jobs when moving back I applied for everything but preschool teaching. Barista, retail, and even the porn store.
The Porn Store
There is a boutique version of a porn store very close to my parents and I saw a now hiring sign so I applied. I'd never worked sales, retail or in the sex industry before so I didn't have high hopes. Regardless I got the job and I was excited and nervous. This was something I knew nothing about and that I was going in with no experience. To the surprise of everyone I thrived! Learning products and prices was a bit overwhelming, to be honest! It was a whole world which I knew very little about. Then I found my flow and how things worked for me and I loved it! Helping people and teaching them about things as part of the job I didn't know and it was the part I loved most. Regardless of whether I work in child care or a sex shop that doesn't make me any less respectable. Also, I found my passion was helping people learn and grow it didn't have to be teaching children though I loved it. Working in the porn store has to lead me to my new endeavor of becoming a sex educator! Please come along this adventure with me.
